How do I keep my secret while telling people?

If I have a business idea but need advices from other people with certain specific knowledge, like someone who is good in economic related matter, how can I prevent them from actually stealing my idea?

Best Answer

A knowledge let’s say has 100 parts.

The “idea” is the first part.

The “realization” is the part 99.

You can openly tell the entire project. The secret is not the first part, but the last part.

Other points

I would like to answer this question in two parts:

Share your mind, not only the business ideas, only with those who you trust and they have proven that they are trustworthy. Of course, you will find extremely small number of persons who are in this category. That is perfectly okay because gold is known as a rare metal.
Having business idea is a great starting point and congratulations that you have one. But it is like having a seed of tree in your hand. From this seed to a tree is a long way to go with many challenges and obstacles. Only a handful people have those skills, qualities and grit to make it happen.
Conclusion: Stealing your idea and making a business out of it is not as simple as it sounds, so don’t worry too much about sharing the idea. If you are sharing it only with the trustworthy people then you really don’t have to worry.

Hope this helps.
